Sea Water Spa

Nick Monte, Keeper of the Inn, revered the healing and restorative properties of the sea so much that he drank a shot of sea water every day of his adult life. Wishing to create a spa environment that harnessed the sea's best qualities, he brought his dream to fruition with the only sea water spa in the continental U.S. that features signature Thalasso therapies and uses sea water in the Olympic-size, indoor heated pool and Roman Baths. SEAWATER INDOOR POOL 
The Seawater Pool at Gurney's Inn brings the outdoors in—and then heats it in our king-sized pool built for healthy exercise and relaxation. The crystal clear sea water is drawn from our own wells and warmed to envelop you in warmth while you exercise or relax. While you're here, you may take part in lap training and aquatic gymnastics or simply swim in your own style, at your own pace. Ceiling to floor windows afford an unobstructed view of the ocean to extend your aquatic experience and connection with this vital element of nature.

The Seawater Indoor Pool is open from 8 am to 8 pm every day, for those over sixteen years of age. Children's hours are 12 pm to 2:30 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm daily.

SAUNA 
Dry heat lets the body take higher temperatures; therefore the sauna room is 165°F to 175° (ladies); 175°F to 185° (men) with humidity less than 10%. A wooden bucket with scented water and ladle is provided to splash on the heated rocks. This increases the humidity temporarily a few degrees, resulting in a pleasant tingling sensation on the skin. The heat is more intense on the upper bench. Bath time is 5 minutes to start, not to exceed 15 minutes. After a sauna, a cool to cold shower closes pores and brings down body temperature. A minimum rest of 5 to 10 minutes must be taken before reentering sauna, if desired.

STEAM ROOM 
Moist heat (120°F, 100% humidity) has been used for centuries to release impurities through perspiration. The humid, hot atmosphere of the steam-filled room opens pores and peripheral capillaries and lubricates the upper respiratory tract. Bath time should not exceed 5 minutes if a "beginner". It is advisable to use a cool shower afterwards to lower body temperature and close open pores. A rest of 5 to 10 minutes is advised before reusing the steam bath, if desired.

FITNESS CENTER 
During your stay at Gurney's Inn, you will feel more invigorated than you have in a long time. Part of your vigor will come from the restorative properties of the sea but you will also feel recharged after working out in our state-of-the-art Fitness Center. The center is equipped with Precor Circuit Equipment, Star Trac Treadmills, Precor Elliptical Machines, Precor Stationary Bikes and a complete array of weight training equipment. The Gurney's Inn Fitness Center is also an official SPINNING® Center. The center is staffed by trained and knowledgeable personnel who also lead Group Exercise Classes which are open to the general public.
